The purpose of this presentation is to provide an insightful introduction to the robotic technologies at Samsung, one of the largest conglomerates in South Korea. Since its founding in 1969, Samsung Electronics has played a leading role in driving the country's economic growth by manufacturing top-quality products across various sectors, including semiconductors, televisions, home appliances, and mobile phones. To maintain its status as a global leader, Samsung continuously invests in researching future technologies, with robotics being one of the most promising fields. As robotics represents the next big opportunity after mobile phones, Samsung envisions a future where robots become an integral part of everyday life within households. Through this presentation, I aim to offer valuable perspectives on the marketability and prospects of robotics based on Samsung's viewpoints. Moreover, I will introduce the history of Samsung's robotics development, which initially began at the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) in the early 2000s and is now being advanced by Samsung Research (SR). Starting from household robots, robot vacuum cleaners, humanoids, and surgical robots, Samsung has made significant progress and is now focused on creating AI-based robots tailored to meet users' needs and enhance their quality of life. I hope to provide a comprehensive understanding of corporate robotics development and inspire attendees with my personal experiences as a researcher in this exciting field.
